I’m Anthony Hernandez, CEO of Captain IT. Raised in Los Angeles, I graduated from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a degree in Computer Information Systems and Business. Since 2010, I have helped hundreds of small to midsize businesses with their IT Support and Cybersecurity needs...
I’ve had the amazing opportunity to meet with the sharks from Shark Tank on several occasions, most recently at a Cybersecurity event in Nashville. In the photo, from left to right, are Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, myself, and Kevin O’Leary. The event was designed for Managed Service Providers to stay updated on the latest developments in the world of Cybersecurity. It was a great experience because Robert Herjavec, who owns one of the largest Cybersecurity firms globally with over $2 billion in revenue, shared a lot of his business knowledge. I learned firsthand how he takes care of his clients and ensures they are protected from constantly evolving cyber threats. As the CEO of a rapidly growing IT support and security firm, I found Robert’s advice extremely valuable.
Having met Daymond, Robert, and Kevin several times, I’ve also had the chance to hear their insights on growing a successful business. Daymond and Kevin’s advice at this event helped me think more about how to take our firm to the next level. Meeting such successful business leaders has always been a privilege, and their insights have been truly invaluable to my journey.
My passion for technology and helping people has shaped my career, which began in college. Over the years, I’ve worked as a computer repair technician, website designer, database programmer, senior-level field engineer, technology teacher, consultant, manager, and director. Today, I’m proud to be the owner of Captain IT.
Before founding Captain IT, I spent seven years at Green Dot Public Schools, a charter management organization with 20 school sites. There, I designed and implemented a robust network infrastructure from the ground up. By the end of my tenure, the district had a reliable technology system that continues to support its operations today.
Throughout my career, customer satisfaction has always been my driving force. It motivates me to continuously learn and master new skills. At Green Dot, I gained extensive experience managing clustered Microsoft Exchange servers, Cisco firewalls, backup strategies, and asset management systems. I also developed policies for technology management, budgeting, and procurement. Building the entire network infrastructure for Green Dot gave me the confidence and expertise to launch my own business.
When I started Captain IT in 2010, I noticed that businesses consistently faced similar technology challenges:
Captain IT was born out of a clear need for reliable, high-quality IT services. Our core values reflect the principles we live by every day:

At Captain IT, we are committed to delivering technology solutions that make a difference in our clients’ lives, while also making a positive impact in our community.
